Prism Coaching was founded in 2005 with Alfredo Vergara-Lobo, Adriana Diaz, Belma Gonzalez, Donald Gerard, Jennifer Crystal Chien, Patricia St. Onge, and Wendy Horikoshi. Others involved from 2010-2012 include Ernest Mark, Fresh! White, Johnny Mazon-Santos, and Kim Fowler.

Prism Coaching was a collective of multicultural coaches until 2013, when we disbanded as a collective and several coaches moved on. We restructured as a nonprofit association in 2014.

From 2005-2012, Prism Coaching was involved in public presentations, forums, and salons to engage those interested in culturally-aware coaching.

October 5, 2012 - ICF Global 2012 in London

Prism presented at the International Coach Federation's annual conference. Test Kitchen: Serving Up New Recipes for Coaching created a place to explore innovative applications of coaching.

April 26, 2012 - Isms Collaborative Conference

Prism facilitated group discussions at the Isms Collaborative conference: "Healing the Wounds of Internalized Oppression and Internalized Privilege." This conference featured key presenter Ken Hardy on issues of identity, oppression, privilege, and power dynamics in the field of health leadership.

Co-sponsored by the Isms Collaborative, The Center for Health Leadership, and The California Public Health Training Center at the UC Berkleley School of Public Health and held at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA.

April 20-22, 2012 - ACTO Conference

The Association of Coach Training Organizations recognized our core coaches as contributors to high quality coach training and education at the 2012 ACTO Conference in Orlando, Florida.

September 26, 2011 - ICF International Conference

Prism presented Playing to the Cultural Edge at the International Coach Federation's Annual International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

June 15, 2010 - Coaching as a Strategy for Peace Event

Kim Fowler presented a special event, Coaching as a Strategy for Peace: Conscious Relationship with Self and Others at the Felicia Stewart Center in Oakland, CA.

2010 and previous

The Prism Salon was a periodic gathering of coaches of color designed to encourage community building and networking in a relaxed and supportive environment. The Salon provided coaches of color a unique time and place for open dialog, professional interaction, interactive education, and collaboration.

The Bay Area Leadership Coaching Learning Circle was a collaboration with Compasspoint Nonprofit Services to co-host coaching learning community meetings to explore how coaches can better serve nonprofit organizations.
